MMA Nerd

I have been for most of my life a huge MMA fan. It began in the archaic years of #ufc (which I still keep up with religiously) when me and my friends used to have fight clubs in the basement, hurting ourselves trying to copy what we saw on tv. Then it was considered a barbaric sport that was banned from regular programming. I used to watch football players and boxers and pro wrestlers get life altering injuries on the tube and all my peers celebrating it like it was a damn right of passage. But somehow REAL martial arts was too violent to be recognized as a sport. Whatever, we still loved it. We watched King of The Cage, and K1, and then the super bowl of them all: PRIDE! That intro music still gets me hype, so did the head-banger metal intro at the beginning of programming for the UFC in the late 90s/early 2000s era. When The Ultimate Fighter first aired on FOX we all about lost our minds. And then when the finale came and it was a legitimate fight card on regular cable television it was a dream come true... not to mention how legendary that fight between Stephan Bonnar and Forrest Griffin was. I’ll never forget that contest. Now I keep up with UFC and #bellator most closely. I also enjoy the likes of #onefc and Rizen but I can go on and on. I will be drawing more #mma illustrations in the coming months but here are a couple profiles I did on my #ipad for now.
